Wildlife Week launched, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami flagged off a bike rally

Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami formally inaugurated Wildlife Week in the state at the Chief Minister’s Camp Office on Thursday. On this occasion, he flagged off a bike rally organized by the Forest Department. The rally, spreading the message of wildlife conservation, passed through key landmarks like Ghantaghar, Parade Ground, and Survey Chowk, and reached Malsi Zoo. Wildlife Week is celebrated annually in the first week of October, with the aim of increasing public awareness and conservation of wildlife. This year, the theme of the 74th edition of Wildlife Week is “Human-Wildlife Coexistence.”

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated that forests and wildlife are vital components of our ecosystem, without their conservation life is impossible. Coexistence between humans and wildlife is the key to natural stability and environmental protection. He stated that it is our responsibility to preserve Uttarakhand’s green heritage. On this occasion, the Chief Minister appealed to everyone to actively participate in this wildlife conservation campaign and ensure a clean, safe, and prosperous environment for future generations.

This year, to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the state of Uttarakhand, a wildlife photography exhibition is being organized at the Doon Library and Research Centre from October 2nd to 8th during Wildlife Week. A wildlife conservation awareness program will be organized at Malsi Zoo, Dehradun on October 3rd, as part of Wildlife Week, in which various public representatives, environmental experts, and citizens will participate.

Principal Secretary Forests R.K. Sudhashu, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Hof) Dr. Sameer Sinha, Principal Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) and Chief Wildlife Warden Ranjan Kumar Mishra, along with other Forest Department officials were present at the event.
