Dehradun: The construction work of Jamrani Dam Multipurpose Project and Song Dam Drinking Water Project, which are among the ambitious projects of the Uttarakhand government, is going on in full swing. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held a high-level meeting on Friday to know the status of both these projects. During the meeting, the CM directed the officials to further speed up the work.
Actually, the target of completing the works of Jamrani Dam Project has been set by June 2029, but during the meeting, the CM instructed the officials to complete the construction work of this project by December 2028. Instructions have also been given to complete the Song Dam Project before the stipulated period of March 2030. So that this project can be completed as soon as possible.
Jamrani Dam Multipurpose Project is being built at a cost of about Rs 3808 crore. Under this scheme, 150.6 m. Construction of high dam, reconstruction of 42.92 km long canal and construction of 21.25 km long new canal is to be done. Under this project, 117 MLD. Drinking water will be made available for the future population of about 10.50 lakh of Haldwani city and its surrounding areas. The 09 km long lake to be built in this project will develop a new tourist destination. Along with this, about 57 thousand hectares of additional irrigation capacity will be created.
Song Dam drinking water project is being built at a cost of approximately Rs 2492 crore. Under this scheme, a 130.60 m high dam and a 1.5 m diameter 14.70 km long water conveyance system will be constructed. Apart from this, 85 km water distribution system and 150 MLD water purification plant are also to be constructed under this project. In future, 150 MLD gravity drinking water supply will be arranged for the estimated population of about 10.65 lakh in Dehradun city and suburban areas by the year 2053. The 3.5 km long lake formed by the construction of this dam will be developed as a new tourist destination.
