Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan chaired a meeting of the Empowered Committee for the Operation of Nursing Courses

Dehradun: A meeting of the Empowered Committee for the Operation of Nursing Courses was held at the Secretariat on Friday under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan. During the meeting, the committee recommended various medical and nursing colleges to conduct nursing courses and increase seats.

The Chief Secretary directed the creation of a single-window system for nursing course applications instead of having institutions scrutinize them at various levels. He stated that this would simplify the process from application to government approval. He directed that work in this direction be initiated immediately. The Chief Secretary also urged the development of a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) covering the various stages of the process, from the time institutions submit their applications to the government.

During the meeting, the committee recommended 1,790 new nursing seats in 39 colleges. Health Secretary Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar stated that the total number of registered nurses with the State Nursing Council by 2024 is 21,541. Currently, 9,806 individuals are undergoing nursing training in government and private nursing colleges. Secretary Dilip Jawalkar and other senior officials were also present on the occasion.
