Dehradun:Chief Secretary Chairs SIDCUL Board of Directors Meeting

Dehradun: Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan chaired a meeting of the Board of Directors of the State Infrastructure and Industrial Development Corporation of Uttarakhand Limited (SIDCUL). At the meeting, the Chief Secretary directed the development of a concrete action plan to usher in a new era of industrial development in the state, taking into account the needs and potential of the next twenty-five years. He directed the development of specific industrial hubs based on the potential of various regions of the state after conducting a thorough study and also called for exploring suitable opportunities for industrial development in the mountainous regions.

Presiding over the 67th meeting of the SIDCUL Board of Directors held at SIDCUL headquarters, Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan stated that the Industries Department and other relevant departments must work proactively to provide all the necessary facilities and amenities to the state’s industries. He urged prompt action to remove any obstacles that may stand in the way of industrial development. In addition to providing a conducive environment for industries, special attention should be paid to ensuring adequate and uninterrupted power supply. The Chief Secretary also directed that the infrastructure available for small industrial units and startups in the newly constructed flatted factory in Haridwar be allocated through lottery.

The Chief Secretary directed that a complete list of assets available with SIDCUL in other areas of the state, in addition to major industrial estates, be prepared and an action plan for their optimal utilization, and that industrial units be established on the allotted land within the stipulated timeframe. The Chief Secretary stated that effective initiatives must be taken to create a conducive ecosystem to realize new-age opportunities such as the establishment of IT hubs, semiconductor hubs, and data centers in the state. This requires committed engagement from the relevant departments and organizations.

The Board meeting discussed plans for industrial estate development at Prag Farm, Khurpiya, Nepa, and other locations, as well as proposed plans for areas like Ranipokhari, and other areas, and made several important decisions. Proposals for increasing the capacity of existing substations in industrial establishments and for construction of transmission lines and substations to newly developed industrial establishments at Khurpiya Farm and other places were also discussed and decisions were taken in the board meeting. The Chief Secretary also directed to constitute other committees including Technical Committee under the board to make SIDCUL more effective and strong.

Principal Secretary R. Meenakshi Sundaram, Secretary Finance Dilip Jawalkar, Secretary Industries Vinay Shankar Pandey, SIDCUL Managing Director Dr. Saurabh Gaharwar, Board Member Siddharth Mandal, DGM of SIDBI, Independent Directors Avinash Virmani and Puneet Wadhwa as representatives of industries, along with many other senior officials participated in the meeting.
